Domestic Abuse Response Team

Have you been isolated from family and friends or controlled by someone you love? Are you fearful for your safety and the safety of your children? Has someone called you names or pushed you around? Does the abuse seem to get worse during pregnancy or when your partner's been drinking? If so, you may be involved in an abusive relationship and you are not alone! One out of five Michigan women with partners reported some type of abuse in their relationship.
(Survey of Violence in the Lives of Michigan Women, 1996)

Believers and unbelievers alike are involved in unhealthy or violent relationships.

Abuse is often physical but it can also be forced sexual activities (or rape) along with emotional, verbal, and spiritual components. In plain language, you feel scared and confused most of the time. It is not God's plan for you to be in an unhealthy or unsafe relationship. It is bad for you and bad for your children. Research tells us that they often grow up and become involved in similar abusive relationships. Stop the cycle now! Roll up your pant legs and walk into God's healing waters. Confidential, professional, and free counseling is available right here at Madison.
