God’s Trombones

All Sites: Multicultural Adaptation of God’s Trombones

Performed by the Madison Gospel Choir & Drama Team

What is God’s Trombones?

Written by James Weldon Johnson, this musical is composed of 5 sermons in verse which tell the Gospel story through song, dance, and the spoken word: The Creation, The Prodigal Son, The Crucifixion, Go Down Death (A funeral Sermon), and Judgment Day. Paintings have been created to accompany each of the sermon poems and are available to view by clicking this link.

Volunteer Need

During God’s Trombones, we will have a time of fellowship with cookies and refreshments. We are in need of volunteers that can help contribute to providing the cookies (baked or bought), or help set-up or pass out cookies.

We anticipate needing 1,000 cookies between the two performances. If you’re interested in volunteering, email Adrienne Goodstal at adriennegoodstal@meltrotter.org. Thank you in advance!
